S1x01 Unconventional Christmas Movies - 1941
Guests: James Medina
You know the unconventional Christmas movie, the Die Hard and Lethal Weapon of the holiday season that keep you sane when surrounded by Elf and A Christmas Story. In this special Christmas episode, we will discuss 1941, the underrated 1979 classic film from director Steven Spielberg, and written by Back to the Future cohorts Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale. The movie was made as a loud and boisterous WWII comedy in the vein of It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World with an epic cast ranging from the golden era, Hollywood veterans such as Robert Stack, to young rising stars of the 70s including SNL alumni Dan Akroyd and John Belushi. Though the film was a modest success, it is considered to be the Director’s first commercial disappointment. The film has gained a cult following, albeit a quiet one. One would be hard pressed to find a special Christmas showing of this film at their nearest art house. In this episode we talk about what we love about this film. We will lament on how it has not (yet) taken its place among the other well-known Christmas films, and what we can do to change this.

FWF S1x02 Die Hard from Flicks With Friends on Vimeo.
Guests: Julian Green, James Heckard, Joel Smith, Kara Heckard, James Medina, AJ Dome, Matt Quick
The first action blockbuster that established the formula of “man vs terrorists (insert location)”, Die Hard is not only iconic for what it brought to the table, it’s a well crafted, damn fine movie in it’s own right. Yippie Kai Yay….

S1x03 - TRILOGIES: Three Shall Be The Number Of The Counting, And The Number Of The Counting Shall Be Three
Guests: AJ Dome, Matt Quick
What is it that drives movie directors to make trilogies? Spielberg and Indiana Jones, Coppola and The Godfather, Zemeckis and Back To The Future, The Wachowskis and The Matrix, Lucas and Star Wars… seems like all the greats have their series. But why do they make them? And what drives us to want to consume them this way?

S1x04 - One Sheet
Guests: Glenn Bartlett
There is a lost art to the movie poster. Today’s photo shopped superhero group shots just don’t have the same feel as an authentic Drew Struzan. Just Google “Movie Posters” and scroll through the results, then tell us which ones strike your fancy. I’m willing to bet there are not many new ones on the list. The ones that will draw you eye to them and have you admiring the ART? Those will be the good ones. We’ll discuss the trends and what Hollywood has lost in art by computer and committee.

S1x07 - Let's All Go To The Lobby
Guests: Julian Green, Joel Smith, Matt Quick, AJ Dome
Snacks are almost as important for movie watching as a darkened theater and stadium seating. What’s your go-to? Popcorn? Red Hots? Whoppers? We’re talking concessions this time out, and willing to bet the results are confectionary delights.
Note - Contains the song and animation for "Let's All Go To The Lobby" which I do not claim to own the rights to. No infringement is intended.

Season 1.5
Beyond the original seven season one episodes, four more were shot but never edited or released. That same unfortunate hard drive failure wiped those additional episodes from the face of the Earth. Still primitive and nowhere near as advanced as what would come later, these Lost episodes could be construed as the continuation of season one, or perhaps a 1.5 as they were never released to the public. While I initially had hopes of either reshooting those at some point, or perhaps later as the show's popularity grows, we actually managed to recover the lost footage! Look for these to actually be released some day...

We’ll take a look at this enduring franchise it’s history and legacy, focusing on the Sean Connery iteration of the character.
